To date, more than 15,000 theater actors, stage managers, production staff, designers, technicians, and other practitioners in the culture and entertainment industry have also lost work, are struggling to survive, and have expressed their urgent need for help.
Most of our colleagues earn on a per-project basis and have therefore lost their source of income because of the enhanced community quarantine. Halfway through the month-long quarantine, a good number of these practitioners are now rationing food at home just to survive the week and are no longer certain as to where or how to get their next meals.
The target is at least Php2,000 for each of our starving artists – some of whom are sick and in need of maintenance medication, some have no food at all, and others have children to feed.
Through the help of OPEN HOUSE, All Access Initiative, Bayanihan Musikahan, compassionate artists, and artist family and friends, we were able to raise funds for more than a thousand artists across the country.
While AWPI has helped more than a thousand artists, a lot more need our help and we are still accepting donations.
Please find it in your heart to donate to the cause. The bank accounts below have been set up for your kind offering. Someone donated Php100 through paypal and that brought happiness to our hearts. A little help can go a long way.
Also, if you know anyone from the financial industry who could help or other initiatives who have a surplus of food or cash donations, please connect us with them.
Thank you very much indeed for your kindness and compassion.
